Making Etsy work

Posted January 12th, 2010 in Etsy store, Jewelry by marie

I have really begun concentrating on my Etsy store to make some extra money.  I have been trying to list one item per day or at least a couple a week to keep it nice and fresh.  I am doing this because I heard that in order to be on the top of a search list, you constantly have to list new items.

I have a lot of items but it is getting a bit difficult.  Making Etsy work for me has become another full time job.  I read a recent article that the Etsy blog sent me and it basically describes how your store can be seen.  There was a lot of great material but it seems as though having the Etsy store has to be your full time job in order for someone to make some real cash.  Since I don’t have the time to do a lot of work, nor the computer at home, I have decided to just keep promoting myself through twitter, facebook, and well my blog.  I’m hoping that friends and family can just spread the word that I have an Etsy store.  Word of mouth is the way I’m gonna go.

I’m asking you for help.  So can you spread the word?  Let people know that I have an etsy store.  If you know someone that likes handmade jewelry or loves antique buttons, let them know because right now I have two really nice button necklaces for sale.  I’ll keep you updated on how the “word of mouth” marketing strategy goes and hopefully I can make a sale in the next couple of days or weeks.

I don’t have much more time before Bearclaw joins the real world so I am creating jewelry and artwork as much as possible.  Stay tuned to the blog and please check out my Etsy store  when ever you get a chance.  Maybe you will find a cool gift or something you like yourself.  In the next week or so I will be adding some blank note cards with my signature designs on them and of course more jewelry.

Thanks for visiting.

I made jewelry for a wedding

Wedding jewelry

A couple of posts ago I wrote about making jewelry for a friend’s wedding. Well, above is a picture of the final product. There were three bridesmaids and they all had the same thing. They were all different because of the type of stone.

Their dresses were a spice color (combination of orange and coral) with a brown strip going down the side of the dress. So I decided on brown stones that look beautiful in the light. I had fun with this set because the stones were all different. As you can tell from the necklace, it gave it a funky look. I thought it was a good choice since it looks elegant but fun and I think they can definitely wear this set again. This was one of my goals. The chain, clasps, and earrings were sterling silver.

I think I might make myself a necklace since it came out nicely. Let me know what you think and if your interested, let me know.

Also, thanks to Lori who hired me to do the jewelry for her wedding and thank you Julie (her sister) who is in the picture. Hopefully she won’t mind that she is on my website.
